Expungements Under T.C.A § 40-32-101(g)
On July 1, 2012, a new law went into effect that allows people convicted of certain crimes in Tennessee to have a single offense expunged from their records, pursuant to T.C.A. § 40-32-101(g). Crimes eligible are most misdemeanors and some Class E, D, and C felonies. However, DUI convictions are not eligible for expungement. An individual is also not eligible if they have previously been granted expunction under this subsection (g) for another criminal offense.

Expungements Under T.C.A § 40-32-101(k)
On July 1, 2017, a new law went into effect that allows people convicted of no more than two (2) offenses to have those offenses expunged from their records, pursuant to T.C.A. § 40-32-101 (k), provided each of the offenses are eligible for expunction under TCA § 40-32-101 (g) and are either two (2) misdemeanors or one (1) felony and one (1) misdemeanor. An individual may petition for expunction of two (2) offenses under this subsection (k) only one (1) time.

If your conviction is among the eligible crimes and you meet the additional requirements, you may file a petition to have your record expunged at the Davidson County Criminal Court Clerk’s office, on the 2nd floor of the Justice A.A. Birch courthouse, 408 2nd Avenue N, Nashville, TN 37201.
