Child killer Roy Coons, Jr. convicted

Roy Coons, Jr. was convicted on July 16, 2019 for the 2017 murder of 12-year-old Yhoana Arteaga.   Prosecutors Pam Anderson and Jeff George were quick to point out the work of Metro Police Detectives who did an ‘amazing job with this case.’   Yhoana was home alone in her family’s Goodlettsville mobile home at the time of the murder, and had just texted her mother saying ‘the man who cuts the grass is at the door.’   That man, later identified at Roy Coons, Jr. was found by the jury to be Yhoana’s killer.   Since he was convicted of Felony Murder, along with other charges, Coons will receive an automatic life sentence, meaning at least 51 years behind bars.  He could receive additional time at a sentencing hearing set for late September, 2019.
